Dragonwell (Long Jing) Tea
There's so much to learn about tea. I've always know that there are different grades of some teas. Dragonwell (Long Jing) is a good example. This is a green tea produced mainly by hand and pan roasted and comes from around Longjing Village in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. Authentic Dragonwell is said to come from the West Lake area. Care should be taken because teas sold as Dragonwell are not always authentic.
There are 6 recognized grades of this tea. To put this in perspective, I could sell a 2oz bag of this tea from $20 to $325! The emerging wealth of the Chinese enables the them to snap up the rare teas. The best leaves are plucked before the rains in April.
Dragonwell is considered fit for an Emperor

Campbell Kiwanis Seeking Volunteers for College Football Championships
Football fans, the Campbell Kiwanis Club is looking for some last minute volunteers to help them staff the College Football National Championship taking place at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara this Monday, January 7th. They need people in all sorts of capacities. They need help serving food, pouring beer, answering questions, and taking people to their seats.
The time commitment will be from approximately 11am to 9pm. You'll need to be at Avaya Stadium on Coleman Ave. no later than 11:30am to catch a shuttle bus to Levi's and the bus will return you to Avaya sometime around 9pm. You'll catch the game, get fed, and receive some swag as a memento of your day!
For every 8 volunteers the Kiwanis Club gets, the event organizers will donate enough money to the Campbell Kiwanis Club to send one financially challenged kid to college. You'll be helping some young people realize their dreams.
If you'd like to volunteer, please email JR McKee at [email protected].
Thanks and please share this with your friends!
The logo of the College Football National Championships is copyrighted and is being used here to promote a charitable cause related to the event.

Happy New Year and New Beginnings to Frost Cupcake Factory
Happy New Year everyone! As we welcome 2019, we also have to say goodbye to a cornerstone of the Downtown Campbell community for the past eight years. Andrea Buswell and her Frost Cupcake Factory are graduating from Downtown Campbell University and is now one of our alumni. While we're sad that Andrea and Frost is leaving us, it's for all the right reasons. We couldn't be happier or prouder to watch what Frost Cupcake Factory will be able to do now that it'll finally have the larger kitchen that it desperately needed years ago. It's amazing that Frost has been able to service some of the largest corporate customers in the Bay Area with custom made to order goodies and participate as a vendor in events as big as the Superbowl from that teeny kitchen.
This move is long overdue and we're happy that you were able to squeeze out some extra years with us, Andrea! We're going to miss your spirit, your work as a past Downtown Campbell Business Association president, the fun and whimsy of all things Frost, and most of all we're going to miss having you and your crew around. You're a Campbell girl and we'll always recognize you as one of ours and will cheer for everything you do. Thank you for all of your contributions to your hometown and thank you for your leadership during a time in which Downtown Campbell really needed all the help it could get.

Volunteers Needed for the Campbell Community Toy Program
The Campbell Community Toy Program works in conjunction with the Campbell Union School District grades K-8 to provide toys, games and fun gifts for Christmas. The program serves low-income families in our community and involves over 2,300 children from 800-plus families. Community volunteers join together to donate, gather, organize and distribute thousands of gifts through the program each year.
The volunteer opportunities are designed to help get the donated items sorted, and ready for pick up by the families we are serving this year. Shifts are available for:
Sorting: Consists of coming to the facility and helping to organize the toys by gender and age group in order to make the bagging process run more smoothly.
Bagging: Consists of tracking and fulfilling the applications submitted for the program and getting the toys bagged and ready for the families to pick up.
Distribution: Happens over a two-night period. Consists of locating each bag by family or application and distributing the bag to each family when they arrive to pick up their toys.
On Call Pick Up: If you can be available to be on call for toy pickups from donation locations throughout this Toy Program drive please email us and we will put you on the list to be reached if needed.

Personal Hygiene Products Holiday Drive
It’s a time for cheerful greetings and festive events. With the holidays upon us, we may not realize this could be a stressful time for many within our own community.
Toothpaste, soap, hairbrushes… These are products we use everyday, but for those struggling to make a new life for themselves and their children, these products may be hard to come by.
The Campbell Youth Commission is hosting a Holiday Drive to donate toiletries to Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence. The Commission will gladly accept toiletries such as deodorant, toothbrushes, soaps, hairbrushes, etc. All donations will go to those affected by domestic violence.
Drop-off locations include the Campbell Community Center front office, Branham High School, Del Mar High School and Prospect High School. Please see flyer for more information.

Thank You for Making us the "Little Downtown that Could"
As we spend today giving thanks to the things that we have in our lives, Downtown Campbell would like to give thanks to all of the friends, fans, and patrons that we have. Thank you for your continued support for our "Little Downtown that Could" because that really is what we are.
People are always surprised when they learn how little we have to work with. We do not have the things that most other downtowns have. We do not have an office. We do not have any full time employees. We do not have any stable funding. When we buy stuff, we're not sure where to store it because we don't even have a permanent place to put it!
Despite all of the challenges that we face, Downtown Campbell continues to be a draw for fun activities, community gatherings, and a night out on the town. The events that we produce usually sell out and the events organized by our friends at the City of Campbell and the Campbell Chamber of Commerce also thrive.
We don't have a lot of advantages in being what we are, but we do have a couple of things. What we have are a lot of friends and a "culture of doing stuff". Downtown Campbell is a community of many characters and organizations who work well with others and like to make things happen. This is something that's truly unique and is something that we're grateful for everyday.
Thank you for supporting us and we hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.
P.S. Please remember to Shop Small with us this Saturday and beyond!

Stripes Boutique has Expanded its Store
Hello! I felt a reintroduction was in order since our grand reopening last month. If we haven’t met yet, I’m Elise, Mama to two wonderful children & Owner/Maker/Buyer/Salesperson and chief executive Janitor of this little brick & mortar shop we call Stripes.
This year has been a complete blur of ups and downs, growth and doubts, but I’m so proud of how far we’ve come! Our mission to bring you hand crafted goods since 2012 has strengthened over the years and we are proud to be stocking all American made brands and creators of small batch baby & children’s fashion and accessories, with the new addition of eco friendly toys and decor.
We love your feedback and truly appreciate every single person who walks through our doors. Let us know what you’re looking for!
This labor of love is a huge piece of myself and my family, with the support of our community, friends, customers and fellow business owners that make us feel worthy.

Tea 101: Oriental Beauty Oolong (Bai Hao Wu Long)
Oriental Beauty Oolong (Bai Hao Wu Long) also known as White Tip: cultivated around Beipu in the Hsin Zhu District of Taiwan.
This is a heavily oxidized oolong (50-70%) that is not roasted. What makes it special is an insect, the leafhopper (Jacobiasca formosana), that eats the leaves. This stems the growth of the leaves and also changes the color of the leaf to a parma-violet tint. After the leaves are dried, the edges turn white where the insect has gnawed on them. Because of the change in chemical composition, the resulting notes are woody and fruity after oxidization. It is possible to count dozens of notes.
The leaves are plucked only in summer, when the insect is active. No pesticides are allowed anywhere in the vicinity because of the value of the leafhopper. In 2006, a Jin (21 oz.) of Oriental Beauty sold for nearly 50,000 Euros!
