You in 2019: What an amazing and fun Halloween photo!
You in 2020: OMG the crowd and no masks... won't be able to sleep tonight!
In case it needs to be said, we will not be having our annual Halloween Trick or Treat in Downtown Campbell this year due to the pandemic, but we’ll celebrate by posting some of our favorite Halloween photos from years past for the entire week of Halloween on the DowntownCampbell Facebook Page and the @DowntownCampbellCA Instagram Page.
If you’ve been to our Halloweens before, look through your stash of pics and join in the fun by replying to our daily posts with some of your past favorite costumes that you've spotted in Downtown Campbell.
Come on out and join us this weekend. Patios and parklets will be open and so long as the infection rate in Santa Clara County remains modest, there’s limited indoor dining and entertainment open as well.
Under our current infection level, bars can now operate outdoors without requiring food purchase and entertainment venues like LvL Up arcade are allowed to open at reduced capacities.
Remember that just because something is allowed does not mean it is entirely safe. Precautions are certainly enacted to make all indoor services as safe as possible, but we’re still counting on you to wear masks correctly and think about your safety, our safety, and the safety of everyone you pass on the street.
Make smart choices and assume that anyone you encounter outside of your home is potentially contagious if you want our dining rooms and other indoor activities to remain available.
Thanks for riding out these crazy times with us.
Lots of people are taking advantage of the lowered infection rates in Santa Clara County to venture out a little more. Also with limited indoor dining resuming as of this week, Downtown Campbell at night doesn’t feel quite as pandemic as it did a few months ago (but daytime is still pretty quiet*).
Because of the increased foot traffic, it is more important than ever to always wear your mask except when you’re actually having a meal. This includes walking around, standing in line, or when seated at a table before food or drinks arrive.
Most people are doing this right and we want to thank you for your support as customers, for having the discipline that allowed us to open more, and for showing concern about the safety of our shopkeeps and workers.
*-Come in the afternoon if you want to avoid people. It’s fairly quiet even on weekends around mid-afternoon. Monday is quietest full stop as some spots don’t even open on Mondays.
This week, Santa Clara County announced that we've moved into the Orange Tier of California's Covid-19 guidelines, which loosens restrictions enough that small indoor gatherings and limited capacity indoor dining will be allowed again. Some people will read this and think, "This is a terrible idea" and others will think "YES! I can't wait!"
For the "terrible idea" people, your caution is understood. Outdoor options, takeout, and curbside services will continue to be offered. Keep in mind that Santa Clara County's public health policies have been some of the strictest in the nation. They're not going to allow anything that would be deemed reckless. Each business offering indoor services will have additional guidelines they're required to follow to keep risks as low as possible and some businesses are also taking additional steps on their own. Businesses have every motivation to make this work so we don't end up on a fast track right back to the Red Tier.
Those of you who can't wait to get inside a restaurant again, thank you for your enthusiasm, but please don't get the wrong message from this week's changes. We especially need YOU to be on your best behavior. A great fear of loosening restrictions is that some people will get the wrong idea, stop being disciplined, and we quickly lose everything we sacrificed for.
If we want nice things, we must be willing to put in the work needed to keep them.
Even as Santa Clara County is enjoying the fruits of our modest success in controlling infection rates, most of the rest of the country is slipping back into outbreak conditions again. We're also heading into the winter months and epidemiologists fear that there could be a strong seasonal component to Covid-19 much like the flu or common cold. We want these changes to last and that's going to require everyone to make smart decisions, be disciplined, and wear a mask like their lives depended upon it.
We've been given an opportunity. Enjoy. It. Responsibly.

Did you know the Campbell Library is the location of one of Santa Clara County's ballot drop off boxes? You can use these drop off locations instead of the USPS when returning your vote by mail ballots. Additionally, if you want to track your ballot to ensure that it's being processed, you can register for updates on your ballot's status at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov.
The ballot drop off box at the Campbell Library is at the base of the main entrance ramp next to the library's parking lot. If you don't live near Downtown Campbell, there are other ballot drop off locations around Santa Clara County.

The Campbell Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a California nonprofit corporation. With a membership of over 200 volunteers, we bolster city-wide disaster resilience by building teams of neighborhood volunteers who are trained, organized, equipped, and responsive to any significant emergency.
Due to COVID-19, we have lost 100% of our funding for 2020 and 2021. The City and our annual Taste of Campbell fundraiser event were our only income sources that financed our activities, and they have both been eliminated.
We use the funds to purchase supplies for large-scale emergencies, provide free first-aid and emergency-preparedness classes, and free first-aid services for local community events. Those funds also used to educate and motivate the public by building awareness for disaster preparedness, communicated through social media campaigns.
With your tax-deductible contribution, you can help us raise money for our 2021 activities.
Campbell CERT is a 501(c)3 California nonprofit corporation founded in 2015.
It might be 2020, but we're still allowed to have favorite businesses, right? Metro Magazine just published the results of their annual Best of Silicon Valley reader's poll and even in this muted Sheltered-in-Place year, Downtown Campbell had a strong presence in the rankings.
The following businesses earned a top three ranking in one or more survey categories in the Metro's annual poll.
