We are so proud to say that our very own Kelly Crowley was just named by the Campbell Chamber of Commerce as Campbell's Citizen of the Year for 2018! This is a very big deal. It's the highest honor that could be bestowed upon those who have shown dedication to making the Campbell area community one that people look up to. It's an award that acknowledges that your generosity, dedication, and love for those around you was critical in making Campbell the place that it is today. It means that you are more than just a member of this culture. You are an ingredient of the culture.

Indeed Kelly has been an ingredient of Campbell for a long time. She's been a part of the Downtown Campbell crew for over 20 years in a variety of roles. She is currently a board member of the Downtown Campbell Business Association (the owners of this Facebook Page) and the General Manager of Khartoum. As a board member, she is involved in organizing and planning many of the increasingly popular events happening in Downtown Campbell. We'd list them, but it'll just be a list of almost everything we do. As Khartoum's General Manager she is not only running a successful business, but also one that is always ready to host a fundraiser and pitch in to support important causes in the community.

We are so proud, Kelly! Well done and well deserved!

This photo was taken at last year's Celebrate Campbell Dinner at Villa Ragusa where Kelly was named the Downtown Campbell Business Association's person of the year, which was already a very nice honor in its own right. If you want to celebrate Kelly and other cornerstones of the Campbell Community, join us at the Celebrate Campbell Awards Dinner in March!

Boiler Maker Opening Soon!

Posted on January 26th, 2018 by Downtown Campbell

It has been months in the making, but the transformation of what used to be Liquid Bread Gastropub is almost complete. If all goes well, it's just weeks away from coming back as Boiler Maker and if you want to know if the Bearnaise Burger will still be on the menu, you'll have to mail me an envelope full of cash!

Just kidding. Please put the money back, ok? I don't know. We're all gonna have to wait to find out.

Our friends at the Home Church are participating in a special honor on February 9th. They're hosting a "Prom Night" event that's organized every year by the Tim Tebow Foundation. The event is Night to Shine and it's a night for those with special needs to walk the red carpet and receive VIP treatment for a night.

Watch the video below and learn more about this unique and moving event. If you want to help, the event is in need of all kinds of youth and adult volunteers to help coordinate the event, provide services, and create the ambience to make the evening one to remember.

If you're unable to volunteer, monetary donations will also help make the event a success, so if you have the means to do so, please contact Night to Shine Silicon Valley through their website at the link below.

We're in the news again! KPIX TV reports that this holiday season "many people (shop in places like Downtown Campbell) not only for the goods, but for the experience." We couldn't have said it any better. When our mom and pops chose to land in Downtown Campbell, most of them did so because they wanted to be a part of the community. We're not just a bunch of stores. We're part of what makes your neighborhood the place that it is. Thank you KPIX CBS San Francisco Bay Area for the coverage and thank you to all of our friends for shopping local and supporting us! We hope your holidays have been bright and take a look at this 2-minute story that features our very own REDEMPTION and Therapy!

Shopping malls are struggling with the continued rise of online shopping but according to Bloomberg mom-and-pop businesses have outpaced the big chain stores. (12-22-17)

Update: Apparently there are a few who know a bit of the backstory of this lot and do not want to support its owner. That is understandable, except Orchard City Parking (the business) is owned and run by someone else. The lot is being rented to Orchard City Parking by the owner and Orchard City Parking was responsible for paying for and performing the renovations.

---

Hello again? As of this month, you have a new old super convenient parking option in Downtown Campbell, but you'll have to pay for it. Orchard City Parking has taken over the lease on the empty lot that's between Therapy and the Courtyard Shops and they've converted it to a 22 space paid parking lot. It's $3/hour and $30/max per day.

A lot of people have been upset with this lot becoming a paid lot and there's confusion as to what's happening here. No, it's not a trend. All of the other parking spaces in Downtown Campbell remain free with their usual limitations. This is just another parking option being offered by a business that leased the private lot that was once leased to the City of Campbell and offered by the City as a free public parking lot.

Unbeknownst to many, it was private property then and it's still private property now. Neither the City of Campbell nor Downtown Campbell are charging you to park down here.

If you're still itchy that it's not free, think of it this way... just don't park there and let someone else decide that an easy parking spot is worth $3/hour. Every car that parks here is one fewer car that'll be competing with you for a free parking spot. Nobody has parked here for years and no parking was removed to install this lot. Whether you ever park here or not, parking just got a little easier for everyone.

If $3 an hour in a centrally located spot is worth it for the convenience factor for you, then go for it! Otherwise, continue using the same free parking lots and on street parking that you've been using for the last 4+ years.

The annual 2017 “Carol of Lights” festival will be held on Saturday December 2nd from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. The Downtown Campbell Business Association invites you to the streets of Historic Downtown Campbell for this free event. This non- commercial, family oriented event brings people in the Campbell community together for an evening of Holiday fun. There are a variety of attractions for the children, including; real snow, bounce houses, a petting zoo, pony rides, arts and crafts, face painting, a photo booth, etc.

After the passing of our beloved Sally Howe, a group of community members and volunteers have taken on this event in her honor. In the past, Sally’s fundraising efforts have been through recycling, community dinners, personal donations, bunco nights, and so on. Since this event has become more popular, the committee is seeking more donations from individuals, local businesses and corporate level sponsors. We need your help in order to carry on this festive downtown tradition!

The sponsorship amounts and benefits are as follows:

$1,000 Sponsorship

Full banner with business logo and information in a populated
area during the festival. Prominent recognition on website, social media sites, event poster and brochure.

$500 Sponsorship

Business logo on smaller banner in a populated area during the festival. Recognition on website, social media sites, event poster and brochure.

$100 Sponsorship

Business listed on poster and printed materials.

Please make check payable to “Campbell Parks and Recreation Foundation”. This foundation is a 501(c)(3) corporation and any donation made is fully tax-deductible.

Individual Donations under $100

Individuals can also donate to the Carol of Lights online through the donations page on the Carol of Lights website. Chip in $5, $10, $20, or whatever you can afford to help us cover the costs and keep this cherished tradition going.

Sincerely,

The Carol of Lights Event Committee
