Unveiling Leonardo da Vinci’s Lost Fresco

Hidden beneath centuries of decay, Leonardo da Vinci’s forgotten 1498 fresco in Milan’s Sforza Castle remains unseen and uncelebrated. Covering the grand 2,500 sq. ft. dome of the Sala delle Asse, this masterpiece once showcased Leonardo’s artistic and mathematical brilliance.

Now too deteriorated for traditional restoration, author Caroline Cocciardi and her team have embarked on a digital revival. Their work reveals an intricate knot design of 16 trees, interwoven branches, and 37 gold-leaf cords. “Leonardo’s dome should be as iconic as Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel,” Cocciardi declares. “Bringing it back is my life’s mission.”
