Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau undertakes a massive task: counting every person living in the United States — regardless of age, citizenship status, gender, etc. Outside of voting, one of the most powerful things you can do for your community is participate in the census.

Your participation helps ensure our community receives its fair share of more than $600 billion in federal funds annually for critical programs that support education, housing, and emergency disaster relief services. Census data determines the number of U.S. representatives each state sends to Congress. It also sets the district boundaries for our congressional, state senator, assembly member, county supervisor, and city council elections.

To assist with the 2020 Census, the U.S. Census Bureau is now hiring for a variety of temporary jobs. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number, pass a criminal background check, and be a U.S. citizen. Bilingual skills are highly desirable.

  • Field Supervisors $33 per hour
  • Recruiting Assistants $33 per hour
  • Census Takers $30 per hour
  • Office Staff $24–$31 per hour

If you love to read and talk books with other people who are into the pulp life, you must check out the Recycle Book Club that meets every month at Recycle Bookstore in Downtown Campbell. This isn't any ordinary book club. In this book club, you don't just talk books, you also get to meet the authors!

This unique club is organized by Lloyd Russell, an avid reader himself who blogs about books and the literary world at BookSage. The books are from a wide ranging array of topics covering just about any genre you could think of. There's probably a title or two in their upcoming book schedule that will interest you no matter what type of reader you are.

There are no requirements to participate. In fact, you don’t even have to read the book! You can come just for the chance to meet the author and get a copy of the book signed, if that's what you want.

Take a look at this great upcoming lineup that Recycle Book Club just published for the spring and summer of 2019!

Spring is right around the corner (no seriously) and we're getting ready to start up First Fridays and Second Saturdays for 2019! They'll resume in April as they usually do and we're looking for bands, musicians, artists, and makers to join us for them. If you'd like to be a part of one of these events, please fill one of the registration forms below.

Please read about our vendor requirements and fill out an application to exhibit your art or wares on an upcoming Saturday.

Here are some of the faces that make Downtown Campbell more than just a small district with restaurants and some shops. Every month, a different business in Downtown Campbell hosts this gathering of business owners, nonprofit representatives, and City of Campbell officials to go over upcoming events, share news, and discuss ways to support each other and make Downtown Campbell a better place. The meeting this month was at the newly opened Water Tower Kitchen.

These people are the Downtown Campbell Business Association (DCBA) and they're the community minded volunteers who are behind the scenes of much of what happens in Downtown Campbell. It's really amazing that Downtown Campbell is as well composed as it is because so much of it is being done by volunteers in their "spare time". This isn't typical of a lot of the Main Street districts that you know. Places like Downtown Campbell usually have at least one full time staff person to run the show.

What we lack in resources, we make up for in culture. It's a "culture of doing stuff" and it includes our fans and local residents who reward us for doing what we do by showing up and bringing friends. That in turn encourages businesses who want to be a part of this culture to open up shop in Downtown Campbell and help us keep this thing going.

Our 21st annual Bunnies and Bonnets Parade is coming up fast! If your organization or business would like to join in and march in the parade this year, please remember that the deadline for applications to be in the parade is on Sunday, March 10th.

Every year, as part of the Celebrate Campbell Awards Dinner event, we get to choose a person important to Downtown Campbell to honor. This year, we're pleased to name a person who's a true team player as the Downtown Campbell Business Association's (DCBA) person of the year for 2019. You might not know him, but if you're around in Downtown Campbell often, you've probably seen him because he lives downtown and shows up to just about everything to be there in support. Nicholas Welzenbach is the name that goes with this face you probably already recognize. He's the funeral director and a managing partner of Darling Fischer Memorial Chapel in Campbell. In addition to being a very active member of the DCBA, he's also a board member and President-Elect of the Campbell Chamber of Commerce.

Nicholas' selfless attitude perfectly embodies one of the core values of the Downtown Campbell Business Association, which is that doing things for the community is not just the right thing to do, but also good for businesses in the long run. For things that improve the quality of life in Campbell, he's never hesitated to volunteer himself and his business without considering if there's anything to gain from it. He also encourages fellow business owners to think of the community first and trust that any sacrifices they have to make is goodwill paid forward that will come back to them in the end.

Please join us in honoring Nicholas and other stand out members of the Campbell community at the Campbell Chamber's 51st Annual Celebrate Campbell Awards Dinner.
