Historic Plaques Installed in Downtown Campbell

Posted on May 18th, 2013 by CampbellExpress

May is National Historic Preservation Month. As part of the celebration, there are five new plaques on some of Downtown Campbell's most historic buildings. Sized 17" by 11", they were installed Monday, April 30, 2013 by Brett Stollenwerk, Barry Shilman, and Susan Blake. This project was graciously funded by Campbell Rotary and the effort was spearheaded by Neil Collins, Susan Blake, and Sally Howe.

You can find the plaques on the homes of the following businesses. We invite you to come to Downtown Campbell and check them out!

Allied Financial Network, 365 E Campbell Ave (formerly the First Bank of Campbell / Farley Building)

Beginning April 14, 2013, San Jose Water Company will be conducting road work in Downtown Campbell, 10pm-6am, Sunday nights to Friday mornings. On some days, the work hours may be extended to 10am. Expect road closures during those hours. Water services will not be interrupted.

Why the hassle? San Jose Water Company will be retiring its 79 year old water main in Downtown Campbell and will replace the main with new pipeline along East Campbell Avenue from 3rd Street to the railroad tracks. The work will also include a water main replacement on Central Avenue from East Campbell Avenue to City Hall.

Beginning the week of April 21, 2013 there will be Mainline trenching on E. Campbell Avenue. This work will progress from east to west, block by block. It is anticipated that it will take approximately one week to trench per city block.

For more information, please read the SJ Water Company's notice; download the work map; or contact San Jose Water Company's Contractor, Lewis & Tibbitts, at 408-925-0220 or San Jose Water Company at 408-279-7900.

Since opening in 2004, Little Star Pizza has been widely recognized as the best pizza in San Francisco by locals, visitors and critics alike. Renowned for our cornmeal crust deep dish pizzas, Little Star has received numerous awards and accolades – our favorite being named in 7×7 Magazine’s “The Big Eat SF: 100 Things to Try Before You Die.” Our pizza has been an exclusive gem of the City until now.

We have expanded to Downtown Campbell and Burlingame under a new name that gives a subtle nod to Chicago, the birthplace of deep dish pizza. Named after The Blue Line, a train that runs between O’Hare Airport and downtown Chicago, Blue Line Pizza features the same award-winning Chicago cornmeal crust deep dish and New York style thin crust pizzas, organic salads, gluten-free options, housemade appetizers, and a quality selection of beers, wines, and spirits. Blue Line Pizza also offers a variety of ordering and convenient services including online ordering, in-store pre-ordering (where your pizzas come out of the oven when your table is ready for seating) and easy pick-up of half or full baked pizzas.

Open every day for lunch, dinner and takeout, Blue Line aims to be your favorite neighborhood pizzeria.

The annual Bunnies and Bonnets Parade in Downtown Campbell is a family and community affair held on the day before Easter following the City of Campbell's annual Easter Egg Hunt. In past years, the parade has featured marching bands, baton dancers, classic cars, bagpipers, floats, dog clubs, and other assorted things of interest that make up the Campbell area community.

The parade is now approaching its 15th anniversary and we're seeking participants to help us make this year's parade the best one yet. If your group, club, or organization would like to march/participate in this year's parade on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 12pm, please download the 2013 Parade Application Form and return it by Wednesday, March 13, 2013.

Participation is free for the general community and $50 for commercial floats. The parade will not be judged and no prizes will be awarded. This is all just for fun!
