Goodbye Rendezvous, Hello The Vesper!

Posted on March 7th, 2016 by The Vesper

A few weeks ago, the Rendezvous Wine Bar abruptly closed and immediately began remodeling. We got email from people asking, "WHAT HAPPENED?"

Well, here it is from the horse's mouth. The Rendezvous didn't exactly go away. It just changed a bit. It's now going to be known as The Vesper, an American craft cocktail bar focused on artisan cocktails and delicious food. If you have gift certificates from the Rendezvous, they'll be good at The Vesper.

Special thanks to the 10 students and faculty who spent President's Day serving lunch at the 124th Annual Early Settlers Luncheon. A successful and long-running annual civic event, only the Rose Parade surpasses it in California for longevity! We worked together with the Early Settlers committee, The Home Church and Mamma Mia's restaurant to serve the lunch before a special talk by Judge Bernal about local history.

Here's a view from one of the parade cars in one of the early runnings of the Bunnies and Bonnets parade in Downtown Campbell. It was taken in 2001 and was probably captured using an early digital camera/video recorder combo using floppy disks. It's really grainy, but you can get an idea of how much Downtown Campbell has changed. There's no "Schrader Building" that is currently home to The Socialight - Restaurant and the building that would open as Stoddard's Brewpub and would later become home to Campbell Brewing Company (once and then again) is still under construction. The retail block across from that building is still an empty lot.

The 8-bit version of Sally Howe walks into the video to take a photo at around 1:42.
