Please Bring Your Own Bags When You ShopThe Downtown Campbell Business Association would like to remind customers that the City of Campbell has banned the distribution of single-use plastic bags as of January 27, 2014. Recycled-content paper bags or reusable bags may be handed out for a minimum charge of 10 cents per bag (this will increase to 25 cents on January 1, 2015).
The new ordinance does not pertain to restaurants, fast-food places, and nonprofit charitable reuse organizations such as Goodwill. The ordinance also allows retailers to provide protective bags for produce, meat, prescriptions, live fish, greeting cards, and garment bags (dry cleaning) at no charge.
We encourage everyone to bring your own bags when you shop! The City Council hopes the plastic bag ban will reduce pollution, free up landfill space, and protect our environment. For more information, please visit the City of Campbell's website.
