The City of Campbell has recently given notice that construction will begin March 22, 2010 on the East Campbell Avenue Improvement Project, working on certain components previously identified in the City's East Campbell Avenue Master Plan (2.78mb PDF). Most of the construction will take place on East Campbell Avenue between Railway Avenue and the Highway 17 undercrossing.

The Improvement Project includes: widening of the Campbell Avenue bridge over Los Gatos Creek; streetscape improvements including decorative streetlights, widened sidewalks, on-street parking, new trees, and more; intersection modification at Railway Avenue and Campbell Avenue; and improvements to the Highway 17 undercrossing. The project will also involve roadway grading, paving, and utility work, which will require some extended lane closures - traffic delays should be expected.

Construction will last for approximately one year. The hours of work will generally be 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. For more information, please download the initial letter of notification from Redgwick Construction Company (594kb PDF), or contact Reina Antonio at the City of Campbell, 408-866-2161.

The annual Bunnies and Bonnets Parade in Downtown Campbell is a family and community affair held on the day before Easter following the City of Campbell's annual Easter Egg Hunt. In past years, the parade has featured marching bands, baton dancers, classic cars, bagpipers, floats, dog clubs, and other assorted things of interest that make up the Campbell area community.

The parade is now approaching its 12th anniversary and we're seeking participants to help us make this year's parade the best one yet. If your group, club, or organization would like to march/participate in this year's parade on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 12pm, please download the 2010 Parade Application Form and return it by Friday, March 19, 2010. If you and your well-behaved dog (on a leash) would like to march in the parade with the Campbell Canines Group, please download the Campbell Canines application and information form.

Participation is free for the general community and $50 for commercial floats. The parade will not be judged and no prizes will be awarded. This is all just for fun!

Wayne Jiang has been in the studio and creating new pieces! The latest piece here at the Stone Griffin Gallery is called "End of the Day" and it is a quite unusual size -- 4" tall x 42" long! Original acrylic on board, $600.

There is not picture of it to post (and with the form factor that it is a picture would almost be pointless) so I thought to post a picture in process of his latest 'Interior' series.

Stone Griffin Gallery, located at 411 E Campbell Avenue, is pleased to welcome a new artist in the gallery! Wayne Jiang, a local artist, does still lifes, landscapes, and other work. He creates mostly smaller pieces, oil on board, 5" square. Prices range from about $160 up to around $350.

Come on in and see Wayne Jiang's work in person. It's beautiful, affordable work -- and the small size opens up plenty of display locations in the home! For more information, please phone the gallery at 408-374-5200.
