Thumbelina presented by The Academy of Classical Ballet - CA

The Academy Of Classical Ballet-California is proud to bring you an original interpretation of Hans Christian Andersen's famous literary fairy tale, Thumbelina. Written in 1835, Thumbelina tells the story of a very tiny girl discovering the true meaning of the word beauty. This fabled story has many twists and turns covering many themes, with 'happily ever after' solidly in place, all told through the wonderful art of ballet. Joining our amazing Academy dancers, we will also be featuring two phenomenal guest artists, Shannon Bynum and Damir Emric from Ballet San Jose. We are extremely honored to have them as part of our production.

In addition to Thumbelina, each of our performances will open with excerpts from one of the classical ballets, Coppélia. Originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Leon in 1870, Coppélia made it's world premier at the Théâtre Impérial l'Opéra in Paris, France. The ballet follows Dr. Coppélius and his life-like doll Coppélia; but the real heart of the ballet are Swanilda and Franz. Swanilda tests Franz's faithfulness with a sheaf of wheat - if they hear it rattle she will know his love is true.

General admission tickets are available for the 2pm and 6pm shows and a limited number of tickets are also available for the 'Ladybug Picnic' - a special meet-and-greet with the cast immediately following each of the performances. These limited tickets will sell out, so if you would like a chance to get a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse, please get your tickets early. We are thrilled at the opportunity to perform for you and hope to see you there!
