Sundown Cinema: The Candidate (1972)

This event has already passed

Just in time for election season, Sundown Cinema presents The Candidate (1972), a film that, strangely, rings as true today as it did 40 years ago.

The film, starring Robert Redford and Peter Boyle, tells the story of an honest and forthright public interest lawyer who is cajoled by political handlers into running for the US Senate against an incumbant who appears unbeatable. But as constituents respond to his honesty and he begins to have a chance at winning the race, he slowly begins to pull out all the stops and compromise his integrity. With an Oscar-winning screenplay that is both funny and biting, The Candidate is a wild ride.

Movie Synopsis: Read about the film on Wikipedia.
