Campbell Historical Museum Seeks Volunteers
The Campbell Historical Museum & Ainsley House needs you! Our museums only run with the help of our wonderful, selfless volunteers. Can you spare a few hours every month to help out? Please contact the museum at 408-866-2758 or via email if you're interested in volunteering. Don't fancy being a docent? Not a problem! We also need people to work at the admissions desk, in the gift shop, and in the garden. We can use volunteers with all sorts of talents! Contact us and we can talk about how you can volunteer here.
The Campbell Historical Museum offers artifacts and memorabilia that help us interpret and recall the vanishing world of Santa Clara's past. We have an acclaimed education program that has received outstanding marks from teachers and students from many districts in our county. |
2013 Sundown Cinema Season Canceled... Back in 2014!!!
Hello Sundown Cinema Fans!
We've got some bad news, but we also have some hopeful news. Sundown Cinema is canceled for the summer of 2013. That's the bad news. The good news is that we're working on a plan to move Sundown Cinema over to the Orchard City Green, which is the grassy courtyard next to the Campbell Library. It'd be a much nicer place for the movie series and we're talking to the City of Campbell about letting us move there next summer. What happened was that the empty lot that we've been using is no longer available to us. The owner of the property came to the conclusion that it was hurting his best interests to allow the movie series to continue. He has a dispute with the city over the fate of that lot. We understand his position and we're grateful that we were able to use that space for so long. It served us well. In the early years, there were nights where the attendance was around 40 people if you counted generously. In recent years, we've had nights where we've lost count at 400. We've definitely grown up and maybe it was time for a move up anyway. While we're disappointed about this year, we're excited about the possibilities that a bigger, better, and more comfortable space will bring to Sundown Cinema. As said above, we're talking to the city right now and expect to have something definite to announce soon. We're very optimistic that we'll be able to work things out with the City and come back with our 10th Anniversary Season of Sundown Cinema one year delayed. Stay tuned. We'll push out announcements to the Sundown Cinema mailing list and to DowntownCampbell.com and the Downtown Campbell Facebook and Twitter feeds as things happen. If you want to be sure you have the latest news, please signup for the Sundown Cinema mailing list on this page: http://www.downtowncampbell.com/sundown/ Thanks for your continued support of Sundown Cinema, Sheldon Chang + Jim Aspinwall Sundown Cinema Organizers |
